Abstract:
A precise determination of the lifetime of the charm-strange baryon Cascade-c+ is presented. The data for this analysis were collected by FOCUS, Fermilab Experiment, E831. FOCUS is a high statistics charm photoproduction experiment which accumulated data during the 1996-1997 Femilab Fixed Target run. The Cascade-c+ lifetime result is obtained using 300 Cascade-c+ -> Cascade- pi+ pi+ decays, 130 Cascade-c+ -> Sigma+ K- Pi+ decay, 45 Cascade-c+ -> p K- Pi+ decays, and 58 Cascade-c+ -> Lambda0 K- Pi+ Pi+ decays. The lifetime is measured to be 0.439 +- 0.022 +- 0.011 ps. The result is a significant improvement on the current world average.

We also report a measurement of the Cascade-c0 lifetime using 79 Cascade-c+ -> Cascade- Pi+ decays. We obtain a preliminary measurement of the Cascade-c0 lifetime to be 0.118 +- 0.014ps. this measurement is in agreement with previous measurements. Systematic uncertainties will be reported after adding more decay modes.
